HypnoBirthing Testimonials

Following are some comments that previous HypnoBirthing mothers and their birthing companions have made after attending HypnoBirthing classes here at Synergy Within.

"I was able to comfortably hypnobirth for 20 hours without other pain relief. The midwives at the hospital were very impressed with my breathing and how quiet and relaxed I was. The commented that the baby was very healthy and happy during the birthing and that the hypnobirthing was probably a huge contributor to this. The midwives and Doctor were very supportive and we were really impressed with the professional and personal care they provided for us."

"Our daughters birthing was extremely quick, 3hrs and 55mins! I didn't require any pain relief and actually gave birth to her standing in the hospital bathroom! (I didn't realise how far along I was until my body wanted to 'push' her out!) No pushing or panting required-just breathing, listening to my body and remaining as relaxed as possible. I'm so pleased to say that it was the most wonderful experience and I would do it all again in a heartbeat! Many thanks Russell for providing us with the tools to be able to do this! Now that I know-first hand- what my body is capable of, I won't ever look back! "

"We had our baby girl at home with a four hour labour and HypnoBirthing working a treat. It was a great experience all round for us and we are so pleased we did attended the HypnoBirthing course. "

"Hypnobirthing was the best tool we used in preparation for the birth of our son. It enabled both of us to learn to focus, think positively and become totally relaxed yet excited about the birthing experience. It allowed my husband to learn more about the natural birthing process, and really provided him with the confidence and enthusiasm to be able to assist me in the most meaningful and helpful way possible. It meant that we could work as a team on the day and what a team we were! My labour was a totally empowering, drug free, amazing and beautiful experience and I attribute that to the HypnoBirthing® skills we learnt. Thank you so much!"

"As a husband and birthing partner, prior to the Hypnobirthing sessions I was feeling quite anxious in the build up to our arrival. I wasn’t so worried about when the baby had come but more so my involvement in the birthing experience. My wife had done an awful lot of research and planning for the event and I had read a couple (actually 1 ½) books. We had also been to the ante-natal classes. The books and classes opened my eyes to what would be going to happen, but didn’t give me any real sense of how to involve myself into the process even though my wife seemed to have it all under control. Hypnobirthing proved to be the most positive step for me, as it gave me the knowledge and means of being actively involved in the birth. When the actual birth came I was able to use the techniques we learnt, and together my wife remained totally relaxed and calm throughout the birth - even with the interruptions from midwifes and other staff. I felt I could quickly draw on my arsenal of techniques to help keep my wife focussed and beautifully relaxed. It all went so smoothly that I didn’t even realize that my wife had completed transition until she said she was ready to push. From there, the pushing was a little more stressful for me as I found that the breathing technique for delivery was not proving successful and after an hour we resorted to pushing as the baby had to come. The experience was amazing and one I’d recommend to any future dad. I was in absolute awe of my wife who went through the process with no drugs or intervention what so ever. I felt absolute pride in my involvement in making that happen."

"We are really very grateful for the calm and peaceful birth of our beautiful daughter. It was a spiritual experience that is hard to describe. Something out of this world. My waters broke at 3am and the surges got pretty intense at 4.30am. We got to the hospital at 5.30am and she was born at 8.30am. We had a wonderful midwife who hardly assisted at all, she sat in a corner sipping her coffee and let my husband and I do our own thing. She had never seen someone being in labour and looking like they were asleep. The last 15 minutes I was in a bath tub and with 3 deep breaths our baby was out. Very peaceful and quiet. She is a very content and happy baby who hardly ever cries and sleeps really well. Learning how your body works during labour and how to relax, breath and go within yourself made labour exciting and interesting. I was confident I was doing the right thing and prepared for every stage of labour. I am very grateful to have had this experience and so is my husband! He has been present at 2 births previously and has never seen anything like this before, he couldn't believe what he saw and how I could be in full control over the situation hardly needing his assistance."

"We decided to use Hypnobirthing for the birth of our first child. We were unsure of what to expect, but thought that anything that could help make the birth comfortable and natural was worth trying. We were pleased to find that the classes were conducted in a friendly, casual atmosphere and after the first session, we looked forward to attending each class. I welcomed the onset of my labour with happiness instead of fear. I felt I knew what to expect and how to cope with the onset of each contraction. Simon was a great support and seemed to know what to do and say the whole time. Of course, not everything in the labour went exactly to plan and there were times when I just wanted it all to be over, but on the whole I would say that I had a great birthing experience and I am thrilled I was able to have a natural birth with minimal drugs. Whilst I did expect Hypnobirthing to help me through labour, I didn't expect it to help so much in other aspects of my life. Friends and family commented on how relaxed and happy I was during my pregnancy, and I am still using some of the techniques now. Hypnobirthing has definitely contributed to the easy start to motherhood I have had. Our 'hypnobaby' is settled, alert and happy, and we both feel relaxed and confident in this early stage of parenting."

"I tracked down Russell in my hometown of Adelaide and joined his Hypnobirthing class. My goal was to be as relaxed as I could during the birth. I didn't expect to feel no pain, but I thought that I might as well have the best possible attitude to deal with whatever pain came my way while I gave birth to my baby. Throughout the classes and the practice that I put in every day (or two) I went into what I now look back on as training for birth. What I developed was a very strong commitment to a relaxed birth, free of fear. I was never quite sure I could really pull it off, but I was determined to give it a go. I gradually released the inherent fears that I had surrounding giving birth, but I could never quite shake a lingering anxiety of anticipation ... after all this preparation, what course would my birth take? I went into labour with a big bag full of relaxation tools and techniques that I had gained through the Hypnobirthing classes, and most importantly I went in with a steadfast commitment to relax and hand over to my body. I felt confident and well equipped, in every way. The biggest surprise to me was that I really didn't feel pain. By relaxing completely and allowing my surges (contractions) to follow their course I found the sensations quite tolerable, even as the surges became increasingly intense. I truly relaxed, and my body did what it is designed to do and, surprise, surprise, it wasn't so bad! At the risk of showing off, but to the credit of Hypnobirthing, the midwives who assisted with my birth were all impressed with how calm I was and how well I managed the labour. Anyway, in short, if you are thinking of Hypnobirthing, do it! Giving birth to my son was the most amazing day of my life and I would happily do it all again, no problem."
